About Society
Dayanand Education Society, Latur is established in May 1961. For a student with economically weak background, leaving Latur for pursuing higher education was a very difficult task. Hence, to make education in reach of every student who wants to learn, renowned personalities of the Latur like Late. Manikraoji Sonavane, Late. Raja Narayanlalji Lahoti, Late. Chandrashekherdada Bajpai, Late. Madanlalji Biyani, Shri. Shantibhai Shah, Late. Nathmalji Innani, Late. Ranaba Mandade, Late. Ramgopalji Rathi, Late. Tamanappa Utage, Late. Keshavraoji Sonavane established Dayanand Education Society in May 1961. In June 1961, under the aegis of Dayanand Education Society Arts, Commerce and Science colleges started functioning. The foundation stone was laid by the former Governor of Maharashtra Hon. Shriprakash.
The Society accepted “आ नो भद्र: कृतवो यन्तु विश्वतः” (Let knowledge come to us from all corners of the Universe) the 14th Mantra from 25th chapter of Yajurveda as it’s a Mission Statement. Late. Manikraoji Sonavane was the first President and Late. Chandrashekhardada Bajpai was the Secretary. Today Hon. Laxmiramanji Lahoti is president and Hon. Rameshji Biyani is the Secretary of society.
“Latur Pattern” in the academic field has come into existence by the persistent efforts put in by all the colleges of the Society. In June 1961 Arts, Commerce, and Science Colleges were together which afterward were made independent for academic and administrative reasons. Dayanand Science was given independent recognition in 1967 so were Arts and Commerce in 1970. In the same year i.e. 1971, Dayanand Law College was established. In 2009 Dayanand College of Pharmacy was established. The year 2017 marked the establishment of Dayanand Institute of pharmacy while in 2018 Dayanand College of Architecture was established.
Each College has its independent infrastructure and building. Nearly 10,000 students are taking education in these institutes from Junior to Senior College up to UG, PG and Ph.D. level. In this Institute nearly about 800 teaching and non-teaching staff is working continuously to achieve the mission and goals of the institute. Each senior college has different additional certificate courses and Research Laboratories. All the colleges run by the trust are well-equipped, well-furnished, fulfilling all the infrastructural needs having continuous water supply, sufficient light arrangements. The teaching and non-teaching staffs here are fully qualified and experienced.
The Society is financially competent to start new courses and programmes according to the need of the community. Hon. Chairman, Hon. Office bearers and Hon. Directors of the managing body as well as the members of the trust are dedicated to attain educational goals and devoting their valuable time for the fulfilment of educational needs of the local community. Hon. President, Vice-President, Secretary as well as members of the managing body always have informal chats with the parents, students, non-teaching employees, teachers and office bearers and heads of the different colleges run by the trust. The purpose is to acquire the first-hand information, knowledge and to take feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the Institutes. Today all the colleges which are under the umbrella of Dayanand Education Society have got best reputation in the region.
About College
Dayanand Education Society established Dayanand Institute of Pharmacy in 2017 to promote professional education and to contribute to wellbeing of community.
Diploma in Pharmacy course started from A.Y. 2017 and Bachelor of Pharmacy course started from A.Y. 2018. D. Pharmacy is affiliated to Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Mumbai and B. Pharmacy affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, approved by DTE and PCI. College is situated in heart of the city in environment friendly campus spread over 22.5 acres.
The college is equipped with the smart classrooms with digital smart boards, advanced laboratories, digital computer lab, library and reading room with all necessary requirements and digital seminar hall. The Institute has AC auditorium, cricket stadium, tennis court, basketball stadium, indoor stadium, girl’s hostel and boy’s hostel with facility of Wi-Fi, guest room, spacious play-ground in the campus. The Institute has provided all the infrastructural facilities like girl’s waiting room, boy’s waiting room, faculty rooms, store room, lift, toilets and purified and cool drinking water arrangements on each floor.
